TECH/VENUE MANAGERS

The position of Elgin Fringe Venue Manager is not unlike the traditional role of "Stage Manager" in that you will provide practical and organizational support to the performers, stage crew and technicians throughout the production process. The position IS unlike a traditional "Stage Manager" where each applicant will be responsible for running their own technical portion of the performances, i.e. running sound and lights. The Venue Manager contract is for a full week, including run throughs and performances.
You will also be the EFF representative during performance week, making sure that the productions run smoothly, have a firm grasp on the schedule and ticketing system, and that all festival goers are as safe and happy as can be. The Venue Manager is the "go-to" for each venue, and must be able to command any and all situations that arise.
Now, to the fun part!
The festival features a variety of performances in unique venues all within a stone's throw from the city center. Imagine a modern dance performance at a local art gallery, an alley a couple blocks away featuring stage combat with batons, a live production with puppets around the corner in a brewpub, public art and visual projection on the streets and buildings, and in another historic building on the top floor, a grand aerial performance where the audience members are the stars. A potpourri of theater, dance, music and art, from multiple groups and individuals throughout the region and country over the course of 4 days running from morning until night–with 80-90 performances–and there you have Fringe Festival: diverse, dynamic and unexpected. And let's not forget the Fringe after parties, Visual Art opening and EFF kickoff party Friday, September 21st, and NEW to this year... our expanded outdoor event space at the newly renovated Dupage Court!
All of this, and more, reminds us that whatever happens… happens. Oh, and EFF is uncurated, uncensored, lottery selection. 100% of ticket sales go back to the artists!
