EFF selects artists via lottery and is not curated. 100% of art sales go back to the artists!
There is no application fee. All applications must be received by March 1, 2022, at 11:59pm. No late submissions will be accepted. Selected and wait-listed artists will be announced by May 2nd, 2022.

Elgin Fringe Festival Artists are accepted via lottery. The lottery categories are as follows:

  • Equity Seeking Artists: artists that self-identify as Underrepresented. This can include but is not limited to those that are BIPOC, and members of the LGBTQ community. The festival is always open to questions and concerns on who qualifies as underrepresented. All artists that are not drawn from this lottery are automatically transferred to the Local and Touring pools respectively.

  • Local Artists: Artists’ address is within 50 miles of Side Street Studio Arts’ downtown Elgin address, 15 Ziegler Ct., Elgin, IL 60120

  • Touring Artists/Out of Area: Artists’ address outside of the 50 mile radius

THE ELGIN GROUP

The Elgin Fringe Festival (EFF) is dedicated to investing in creators and talents within our city to better distinguish Elgin’s unique artistic voice. From the previous festivals, the EFF committee finds that the Elgin artist is underrepresented in the lineup of performances year after year. Therefore, the committee is dedicating more attention and resources to address this concern starting in 2022. This initiative is supported by Side Street Studio Arts and The Elgin Cultural Art Commission.

The Elgin Group is searching for new voices to enter the Elgin Fringe Festival in 2022. These artists should be a reflection of the diverse community in Elgin and strive for artistic excellence in their productions. Eligible applicants should possess some experience in performing arts and have an interest in producing a 30–45-minute (but not exceeding 60 minutes) program, which they may perform 2-3 times during the run of the festival in September. The Elgin Group is prepared to award a stipend of $300 - $1000 for artists who are appointed to benefit from this initiative. This stipend should be used to address the needs of the production and the artist’s creative process. This will be distributed throughout the 6-month agreement.
