Inspired by a musical the author actually wrote at age ten, A Play I Wrote in Fourth Grade follows the creative process of a precocious little girl as she writes her magnum opus: a show about a boarding school that is not Hogwarts, a queer-coded heroine who is not like the other girls, and a child-hating headmaster who is not afraid of turning to cannibalism.
