Strength - Sweet Strange Heart Tarot

My name is Trai Orthel and my piece is titled "Strength" from my series, "Sweet, Strange Heart, Tarot." I always dreamed of creating my own tarot deck and finally on my birthday in 2022, I decided to jump into the process regardless of how long it might end up taking. "Strength" is one of my favorite pieces from that ongoing collection. It, like most of my card designs, takes inspiration from the traditional Pamela Coleman Smith tarot deck art and translates it into my own dream world.

A dandelion headed figure bursts from a crack atop a tower made of pink neon grid rising above a layer of pink and green clouds to face a large many-eyed looming lion-headed feminine figure with a casual ease. "Strength" explores themes of resilience and, like the rest of my deck, is a celebration of a variety of body types and an intrinsic capacity for endurance.
