Chronicler

Hey, this is Bobby Rowland, and this piece is titled Chronicler. Uh, this is one of two paintings based off of photographs that I found in a thrift store years ago of these two older gents. Um, I don't really have a ton of information on it. I tried to look up the photographer's name.I can only make out the first name, which is Jack. And then the title, uh, he wrote on there is hard Rock miner. And I don't know if it was both of these photographs, like both of these guys were miners or, um, they were just kind of candidly caught, you know, um, on somewhere on the road. 

I, I can't, I don't really know, but I just felt like both of them, there's so much character and life in their faces. And I was like, I have to paint these. And this was the first one I painted and it was, um, I had these two pieces of canvas lying around forever that I was just wiping paint on and just I was like, I'm gonna paint this eventually something, something cool is going to show up there. And when I decided to paint this one, it was weird because his face was kind of already there. And it was strange how well this photograph translated onto this, these paint smears that I already had on this canvas. It was meant to happen maybe. Um, yeah. And I, I just, they were so fun to paint and there's just so much life and, and, um, experience and, and wisdom in these in their faces. Like it almost seems like both of them were caught right in the middle of a conversation or it's like you could sense the photographer was talking to them and was like, I have to photograph you. And I felt like I had to paint them. So it was kind of a cool, you know, cross time collaboration. I really enjoyed that about painting them. And, um, yeah, I, I loved how they turned out.
